Skin of a Tree   1999

27 x 63.5 x 16.5 cm
11” x 25” x 6.5”

Patinated bronze, cast glass (Ayres Rock Gum tree bark cast, artist’s arm and hand)

A work in the series entitled Bodyscapes: dreaming oneself.

I had been to Ayres Rock and circumambulated the body rock sacred to the Aboriginals. I would not set foot on it. Even from a distance it radiated power. At King’s Canyon I took plaster casts of a fallen gum tree and of stones.
