The idea of using beads to mask the head, thus hiding the prism which directs the laser beam from inside the head, was already in the early drawn studies and even earlier in the beaded sculpture Woman of War Head. When it came to making the sculpture, I forgot the bead mask until I realised that it was necessary to complete the head.
