Welsh stone, glass prisms
Robert McLaughlin Gallery, Oshawa, Ontario.
Prisms, which are products of technology and precision, a geometric form dictated by optic function, coupled with stones, the end results of the slow wear of time and geological change.
Heavy matter wrapped in light.
Prisms are like heads, transformation and control systems, as close to the dematerialised as possible. Prisms are precision tools of geometrical form and transparent luminosity destined to be anchored to a vision machine. Lijn has decided to attach them to stones like a necklace of light.
The Prism Stone series continues Lijn’s work exploring the possibilities in which extreme opposites can come together and embrace one another in a strange but fruitful synergy.
