Light and Flow: Liliane Lijn’s Crossing Map Drawings, by Jennifer Mundy, published by the Drawing Institute at The Morgan Library and Museum, New York, 2024

Whilst the Thaw Senior Fellow at the Morgan Library and Museum in New York in 2023, Jennifer Mundy researched and gave a public lecture on the drawings created by Liliane Lijn for her 1983 volume Crossing Map, part autobiography, part science fiction, and part reflection about human relationships, an ambitious, though until now little studied, tour de force. The lecture and revised text explored what this book and its drawings reveal about Lijn’s development as an artist at a critical point in her career, and why she described Crossing Map as her ‘credo as a woman’.

The Drawing Institute is a centre of research based at The Morgan Library and Museum and is supported by a generous endowment gift from Eugene V. Thaw.
