‘Shimmering was commissioned by Haus Der Kunst in Munich for my museum exhibition that toured from Haus Der Kunst to mumok in Vienna and Tate St Ives in the UK. As Gravity’s Dance, it demonstrates the opposing forces so central to the formation of galaxies and solar systems on a large scale extending metaphorically to the atomic and sub-atomic holding together the elementary particles composing matter.
As opposed to the opaque blackness of Gravity’s Dance, Shimmering reflects light, its surface shimmering as it spins, levitating into a continuous dance that reveals the spiral, wave like nature of cosmos. Shimmering animates the space with turbulent shadows and the light reflected off its surface. ’ – Liliane Lijn
