She

1984-1986

Series of oil pastels on Whatman paper.

She was the title Lijn gave to a series of numerous drawings, which she began in order to find a new image for what she felt was the essence of the feminine.

Making these drawings moved her 3-dimensional work towards a more figurative and more embodied state.

These drawings then informed Lijn’s sculptures Heshe, Feathered Lady, Lady of the Wild Things.
