She Me Skin of the Tree

1999

27 x 63.5 x 16.5 cm

Patinated bronze, cast glass (Ayres Rock Gum tree bark cast artist’s arm and hand).

Dreaming, I’m only dreaming…

Lijn awoke from a deep sleep with a curious vision of crystal hands sprouting together like a bunch of brittle flowers.

Lijn had been to Ayres Rock and circumambulated the body rock sacred to the Aboriginals. She would not set foot on it. Even from a distance it radiated power. At King’s Canyon Lijn took plaster casts of a fallen gum tree and of stones.
