Sunstar at Mt. Wilson

30 June  –  1 July 2018

Pasadena and the Griffith Observatory, LA

“The Inauguration of Sunstar, a large-scale daytime ‘spectroheliostat’ art installation sited on top of the historic 150’ Solar Tower on Mount Wilson. Sunstar is a collaboration between astrophysicist John Vallerga and artist Liliane Lijn. A beam of diffracted sunlight is projected into the Los Angeles landscape, making the solar spectrum visible at specific locations. George Ellery Hale was a solar astronomer and the light spectrum is the foundation of astrophysics. Beaming locations and times to be announced on the website.”
